Barn Conversions, Holme Pierrepont, NottinghamWilliams-Architects were commissioned to provide architectural services for the conversion of five barns at Home Farm, Holme Pierrepont, near Nottingham. Back in 2007 the barns of this once impressive farm were in an extremely dilapidated state and in in urgent need of attention to save them. However, beneath the weeds and decay we found a series of beautiful Edwardian buildings. The brief was straightforward - transform the barns into beautiful homes. We set about devising the best way to sub-divide the units and get the most out of the spaces. Where possible, we made use of the barns' original features and sought to create as much double height space as possible. After returning the roofs to their former glory with a new covering of plain tiles, and renovating the brickwork, insulated ground floors and wall linings were formed within the barn shells. |
