Langar School
Langar CofE Primary School's summer extension works were completed on time and on budget, ready for the pupils to start benefiting from the larger classrooms the very next day.  Staff and pupils are all pleased with the results, which contractors Harry Richmond & Partner managed to squeeze into the six weeks of summer break that was all that was available to them.

The extension reflects on the materials used for the previous large-scale building work done to the school, effectively book-ending the original CLASP building and bringing balance to the overall composition.

It's been an eventful week...

Helen has completed her year of architectural experience and headed off for a well-earned break and the chance to gain more work experience in the antipodes before returning to the UK to complete her university training next year.

And Tim has decided to move on, widen his experience of office life, and work with a practice in Leicester.

We hope they both have some great adventures, and wish them every success with their future careers!

The steelwork for Walkers Midshire Foods' latest expansion to their Leicester site is now up; ready to be clad with their distinctive burgundy company colours.  Large trusses minimize the internal columns, whilst providing a first floor ready to take the majority of the staff's changing facilities and a significant flow of people at shift change.

::Updated::

We have been helping Langar CofE Primary School with their need to extend a couple of classrooms over the upcoming summer break.  The Planning Application has been approved, and the project fully detailed up and costed and ready to hit the ground running come July.

The school was originally built as a small CLASP annexe to the main facility around 40 years ago, and was significantly extended to form the prime and only school site in 2009.  Our extension builds off the original CLASP shell; amalgamating the scale and modulation of the CLASP system with the materials of the recent additions.

We're are really excited to see the cedar cladding going up at Kent PHK's new headquarters in Mansfield. The contrast between the warmth and texture of the cedar and the dark metal is working very well.

Happy New Year!

Here at Williams-Architects we are excited with the prospects shaping up for the New Year...
  • The Kent PHK shell is nearing completion, and we look forward to working on the fit-out in the spring!
  • A significant build for Walkers Midshire Foods in Leicester goes on site within a fortnight.  It will be a complex half-year build amidst an operational facility - and should keep Contractor Lindum Group, Project Manager IFP, and the whole design team busy!
  • And there are several projects in for Planning for which we look forward to positive results!

Today we have received full planning permission for our proposed refurbishment and re-cladding of the Hadyn Green Family Stand at Notts County FC.  The plans include re-furbishing the ground's corporate hospitality facilities as well as giving the facade of the stand a much needed face-lift.

We hope to be taking the design forward with Notts County in the new year.

We have submitted the Minhaj-ul-Quran community centre for planning permission.  The refurbished and extended community centre will improved space for education, worship and recreation, whilst the eight new apartments will provide much needed family accommodation in the heart of Forest Gate.

See the Minhaj-ul-Quran project page for more details.

Today the Rushcliffe Hospital and enterprise park received Outline Planning approval from Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Work is well underway now on the new Headquarters and Workshop building we have been working on for Kent PHK in Mansfield.  After working on the designs for nearly three years, it's great to see it all coming together on site.

The workshop is now fully clad and we expect to see the office cladding going up in the next few weeks.  Whilst the shell has been under construction we have been working on designs for the next-stage interior fit-out.
